I’m against homeschooling. My Three body paragraph are :   Lack of motivation, homeschooling is boring for kids and the  homeschooling limited social interaction with other friends.

The next day, I  went out with my friends to a club call “Martini” in Little Falls.Even though we went on the weekday, we had a really good time and the music was amazing because it was a Latin night. My other two friends couldn’t go with us because they had to work the next day so we went out on the weekend. On Saturday I celebrated my birthday in a club  in Secacus ” feelgood”, one of my friends promoted party at the place so he reserved us a table. We went like around eleven and we had a good time too.my-birthday-2009-246

My Son Baseball Game

April 20, 2009

my-birthday-2009-2383I could start telling you guys that I learned a lot about baseball this weekend, that I did when I was married. Maybe you guys ask my-birthday-2009-2391Why? Well  my husbandand and I used to watch  baseball games on the weekend and to tell you the truth I just was seating next to him giving him some company. Since my son and my nephew start playing baseball, I had to learn everything about it and I had to take them to every single practice. I really enjoy going to their practice because they improve every single time and now they are part of the team. My son’s team name is ” Ranger’s” , they are part of the Silk City Rangers Baseball Organization. This weekend  was their baseball opening season at Eastside park. The ceremony started at 9:00am but we had to be there by 8:30 and the parking was crazy. The ceremony was really nice, they had like more than 10 different baseball teams from Paterson. Even the Major from Paterson was at the ceremony and he promised the kids to fix the Penington Park. After the ceremony, they had like a little carnival, they had free Hot dogs and ice cream for the kids. In the afternoon I had to take my my-birthday-2009-252son to his baseball practice. On Sunday they had their first game of the season, They played VS Yankees team at Penington park. Me and his father got there an hour before so he could practice with his team. SHOULD TOWNS HAVE TEEN CURFEWS LAWS?

April 15, 2009

I still remember how much I hate it when my parents used to tell me to be back at home before eleven. I knew that if I wasn’t back at home by the time they told me, I will be grounded for a month. Nowadays, we see that many towns around the country are enforcing curfew laws for teenagers; this curfew only applies to teens under the age of 17. Teens have to be at home between the hours of 11pm and 6 am, Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday. Most teenagers may think that curfew is not a good idea because it stops them to be outside on the street with their friends, but having a curfew law will bring them and parents different advantages.

One of the advantages that curfew law should be effective in many communities is because it would help reduces crime rates. If teenagers are in the street until late hours, they have more chances to get into trouble with other kids. They could participate in gang’s activities or start selling drugs with their friends on the streets. Rudolf M. Rossmy a chief police of Dallas said that since they have curfew law, crime committed by juveniles has decreased by 30.3 percent.

Another advantage of curfew law is because it will protect teens to become delinquents at early age. Some teens feel some peer pressure from their friends so they start copying things from them. For example, my friend Jenny has a younger brother, he is in the teenager’s age and he starts giving his parents a headache already. He goes out at night with his friends and his parents are worry for him. If the curfew law gets stricter in our town, it will prevent him and his friends’ to go to jail.

The last reason that teenagers should have a curfew is because parent could know where their kids are at night. When I was a teenager I used to tell my mom that I was going to my friend’s party, but I was laying, I used to go out clubbing with the girls. Now, that Iam a mother I can’t see my son going out, without me knowing where he is and who he is with? I would like to see him at home before eleven and if he would like to stay later, I have to drop him off and pick him up too, so I could feel secure.

Opponents say that curfew affects a couple amendments of the Constitution that protects Citizens right and the curfew has not stopped youth crime, it may be true in some cases. However, Chief William Ellis from Long Beach, CA said that some policies reports shows the crimes went down and the shooting related to gang members decreased but 23 percent, since they adopted curfew for teenagers in their town.

To conclude, having a curfew in our town will be a good solution for some parents and why not for some kids too. Especially, in town like Paterson we see a lot of young kids outside in the street until late hours doing nothing prospecting with their life. If we enforce Curfew laws in our town they will have to be at home before eleven, they don’t get into any trouble with other kids. They don’t hang out with the wrong people and parents could feel better if their kids are home early .As a parent, I think Curfew is the best law the government and the state local could created.

When we arrived to cuzco, the people of the hotel  were waiting for us with some tea. This tea was made from coca leaves to prevent altitude sickness.  When you get to Machu Picchu you feel the peacefull of the place, they you start thinking how they carry all those big rocks up there and how they built that empire. One day i was on my uncle house and he has a picture of Machu Picchu and he told us to turn the picture upside down so you could see the face of the Inca.If you have the chance to see a picture try it and you will see what iam saying.

Independence is key…

February 27, 2009

I could start telling you guys a little be about myself. My name is Desiree Flores, i was born and raise in Lima-Peru. I finished high school in my country and i did one year of colleagues.I still have my older brother and some of family members living in Peru. I try to go and visit them every 2 years, specially now that i had my first nephew and aim his god-mother. I came  to the United State in the summer of 1997 to visit my cousin, i didn’t imagine at the time that my life was about to change. After4 months being in this country, i met my son’s father. We got married and had a beautiful baby boy, he’s name is Isaac. He is 9 years old and i cant imagine my life being with out hicimg09431m.Even though his father and I are not together, we are really close friends and i thank God for that.

When I came to this country I didn’t know to much English, only the basic to communicate with others. It was hard for me to look for a job because most of the job required you to speak and understand perfect English or at least the basic . I was upset and sad at the time and that’s when i decided to learn English, i went home and told my son’s father to talk to me in English only.  Since the moment i pushed myself to speak the language and stop watching T.V in Spanish,It took me quiet of time  to get it but at the end i did it.I still have my accent but i could defend myself  and feel more confident to speak in front of native American people.

I work for an Eye doctor, I’m being in the optical business for almost 8 years. I really enjoy my job because it gives me the opportunity to meet new people and practice my English and this job is special because the Doctor was the first person that give the chances to work for him even though my English wasn’t perfect is. The only thing i don’t like about my job is that we have to work on Saturday.I went back to colleagues  because i want to improve myself in my writing, speaking and  i want to get my associated in Early childhood education. It’s no easy to go back to school, when you have a kid but is not impossible, you have to manage your time and you have to work harder.I still having some problems but im working on it and i really thankful because my father and my son’s father help me with my son.
